Worth knowing

Pattern choices, in plain terms.

Herringbone

Long tiles laid at right angles in a zigzag. Needs more cutting at the edges, so order about 15% extra.

Chevron

Tiles cut at an angle so the points meet in a clean V. Order about 20% extra.

Brick bond

Each row offset by half a tile. Forgiving and classic for metro walls and long planks.

Stacked & chequer

Every joint in a straight line, so any wobble shows. Set out from the middle of the room.
